H Sweet and Sons hosts Clipper Gala Dinner
Categories: Sweet News
H Sweet and Sons are hosting a Gala Dinner on 9th March at the Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel, in support of Chairman, Mike Sweet. Mike is taking part in the Clipper 2017-18 Race, commencing in August 2017 – truly the challenge of a lifetime. As part of a 20-strong crew racing against 11 other teams, Mike will circumnavigate the globe covering over 40,000 nautical miles.
Being the only global sailing race for amateurs, The Clipper Race is unique. The 2017–18 Race will travel to South America, South Africa, Australia, SE Asia, China, North America, Ireland and Europe before returning to the UK. Having passed the Clipper Crew interview, the rigorous training is well underway – equipping crew with all the capabilities required to sail a 70-foot racing boat, including managing the sails, navigation, and emergency protocols.
Alongside Mike’s preparations for the race, H Sweet and Sons business are fundraising to support two charities – Unicef, Clipper Race charity partner, and Children’s Hospice South West – the CHSW hospice at Charlton Farm, Wraxall is close to our North Somerset Head Office. We’re delighted to be supporting two charities with a common mission to support children.
We’ll be posting updates both on our website and via Social Media as Mike’s preparation continues and the race commences in August 2017 - follow us on Twitter @Hsweetandsons.
Mike is fundraising via JustGiving. Visit the H Sweet and Sons 2017 team fundraising page for more information and to donate.
